Ploughing Match

Sunday, 13th September 2026

Whipley Manor Farm, Palmers Cross, Bramley, GU5 0LL

A Glimpse into Farming’s Past…

Before modern machinery transformed the way our fields are worked, ploughing was a skilled craft carried out with patience, precision — and often a good deal of horsepower!

Today, very few farmers plough in this traditional way, making our Ploughing Match on Sunday 13th September a wonderful opportunity to see farming history brought back to life.

Farmers will bring their vintage and classic tractors, demonstrating the machinery and skills of a bygone era, with competitors putting their ploughing skills to the test just as generations of farmers did before them.

It’s more than a ploughing competition — it’s a celebration of traditional farming, rural heritage and the people who have worked our land for generations.
